This Thoth and Horus Egyptian Gods collectible coin is a richly detailed and archaeologically inspired ancient Egyptian art piece rendered in warm gold and cobalt royal blue with full colour UV enamel. The front face — the Thoth side — presents the ibis-headed god of wisdom, writing, and divine knowledge standing in the classic Egyptian striding pose at the centre of a warm gold enamel field. Thoth wears a gold-pleated white linen kilt, a teal and gold striped broad collar necklace, and a teal and gold striped headdress crowned with a large raised gold solar disc. He holds an open papyrus scroll tablet in both hands, inscribed with fine hieroglyphic markings — the very act of divine recording for which he was revered across three thousand years of Egyptian civilisation. Behind Thoth, the massive face of the Great Pyramid of Giza rises in dramatic raised gold relief, its stone courses rendered in fine horizontal line detail filling the right half of the field. The great falcon Horus faces right with a teal blue feathered nemes headdress and a raised gold solar disc above his head. His wings spread wide across the full width of the field — each wing rendered in sweeping layers of raised gold primary feathers and vivid cobalt and teal blue secondary feathers. In each of the falcon’s talons, a raised gold uraeus serpent coils upward, the royal cobra of divine protection. Above the falcon, two Egyptian royal cartouche panels sit left and right, each filled with raised gold hieroglyphic symbols including falcon, owl, seated figure, djed pillar, and other sacred signs. Below the falcon, four gold wavy horizontal lines represent the sacred waters of the Nile, above the base composition of three raised gold pyramid silhouettes — the Giza pyramid complex. Further hieroglyphic inscription panels fill the lower left and lower right quadrants with ankh, serpent, and additional sacred symbols. About the Design
Thoth — known to the ancient Egyptians as Djehuty — was one of the most important and intellectually revered deities of the entire Egyptian pantheon. As the god of writing, wisdom, knowledge, the moon, and divine record-keeping, Thoth was believed to be the inventor of hieroglyphics, the scribe of the gods, the mediator in divine disputes, and the keeper of the cosmic balance (Ma’at). He was said to have recorded the weighing of every human heart in the Hall of Two Truths during the judgment of the dead. His ibis head — the long curved beak of the sacred ibis — was the visual symbol of the pen and the precision of thought. Horus — the falcon-headed god of the sky — was the living embodiment of divine kingship in ancient Egypt. Every pharaoh was considered the earthly incarnation of Horus during their reign, and after death became Osiris, with their successor becoming the new Horus. The winged solar disc above Horus’s head is one of the oldest and most widespread Egyptian protective symbols, representing the power of the sky and the sun in a single divine form. The three Giza pyramids at the base of the reverse face represent the supreme architectural achievement of the Old Kingdom pharaohs — monuments built as eternal houses for the divine kings who were themselves considered manifestations of Horus. Together the two faces of this coin present the two great intellectual and royal pillars of Egyptian divine authority: Thoth the wise scribe of heaven, and Horus the eternal falcon king.
