About the Design
Duty, Honor, Country — the three words that form the motto of the United States Military Academy at West Point, spoken by General Douglas MacArthur in his farewell address in 1962 as the three hallowed words that build character, mould courage, and create in the soul the will to win. The battlefield cross on the reverse — rifle, helmet, and boots — is the traditional military tribute to a fallen soldier, placed on the field where they fell. The bald eagle descending above it speaks to the nation that honours their sacrifice.
